I bought it at an auction in Southern California in 1991 when it had 10,000miles it now has 172,000 miles. The vehicle had originally been stolen and notwrecked that's the reason for the auction and corresponding salvage title. I want to go back to school, which is my reason for selling.

This is a one of a kind turn key modified R2. All top of the line parts done professionally and with low mileage on modifications and new engine/rebuilt trans. Engine compression test showed nearly perfect. 115psi along all rotor faces on both rotors. This is a strong healthy engine without any issues, smoking or anything reliability wise or expensive repairs to worry about in the future. A couple small dings on the hood.. The car drives extremely smooth and is nearly flawless in and out. The level of care in modifications and the quality of parts makes this a rare and unique car that is a blast to drive. All emissions equipment including airpump has been retained, single turbo that passes emissions! Both Original Mazda Keys and Manual.

It's been upgraded with staying true to factory specs and reliability inmind, bringing it up to contemporary standards. I have spent a lot of money onthese upgrades.... Engine: Rebuilt by Cam at PettitRacing, a legendary rotary expert. Less than 5000 miles. Alwaysstarts, smooth idle. Running stock 11 lbs of boost, managed via the upgraded ECU(Power FC). Fuel pump upgraded to the OEM quality Denso model. Cooling capacityupgraded via Koyo radiator and Pettit Intercooler; flow improved via downpipe,Racing Beat exhaust, Greddy intake elbow, and K&N Intake. Other adds includealuminum flywheel, upgraded pulley & guides, and vacuum simplification withBanzai kit. Output is a robust 320 hp to the rear wheels. Suspension: Theamazing and expensive Ohlin coilovers installed last summer. Also added is theOEM Mazda R1 strut brace (repainted silver) as well as Banzai trans and diffbraces, all greatly increasing structural rigidity. Wheels and tires also lessthan 5000 miles (Tracklite wheels, staggered 18x8.5 & 9.5). Interior: Startingwith the 1994 interior (Mazda vastly improved it from the 1993 model), tastefulupgrades have been made to the black and tan combo. Leather Seats have beenrecovered in black Italian leather (removing the old tan Mazda surfaces). Seatplastic trim has been replaced with black pieces acquired used to support thecolor conversion. The shift knob also has been recovered, and a new leather bootis in place for the shifter and e-brake. The factory tan carpet still in placefor a great color contrast!
